The Printerverse will be the site of the fifth annual National “Girls Who Print” Day at Graph Expo on Tuesday, September 27th. Founder Mary Beth Smith expressed excitement about hosting from Orlando this year, as it will allow for people to attend who perhaps have not been able to make it to Chicago in the past. Once again, events will be livestreamed online for everyone to be able to participate from all over the country.
First celebrated in 2012, National “Girls Who Print” Day is an annual event, held on Tuesday of Graph Expo each year. The signature theme of “Peace. Love. Girls Who Print.” highlights the camaraderie of the industry’s largest virtual sorority for women in print/graphic arts. Now numbering over 6,000 members around the world, GWP Nation continues to promote our love of print, paper, design and communication through networking, blogging and education.
One of the most popular discussions is the “Leasdership” panel, featuring women leaders in the industry. Many graphic arts educators around the country stream the panel live to their classes, allowing students to pose the questions online in real time.
A major highlight of National GWP Day is the awarding of the GIRLIE! The third annual Girlie Award will be presented to a deserving member during our lunchtime activities, and you don’t want to miss that! Past recipients are: Pat McGrew and Cary Sherburne — who will be next?? We aren’t telling! WATCH THIS VIDEO TO SEE WHO WON – SHE HAD NO IDEA IT WAS COMING!!
In the spirit of peace, love and equal-opportunity, all women and men are cordially invited to stop by and join us for a light lunch at noon on September 27th in The Printerverse, BOOTH 701.
For those who cannot attend, we will be sharing photos and videos via social media throughout the day!
Make sure you follow @PrintMediaCentr, @mbsmithTX and #graphexpo to be connected to what’s going on at #GWPDay, and see who stopped by to say hello! The 2016 GWP Day poster is AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD!! Traditionally, members take pictures of themselves with the poster at work and post them out through the GWP Facebook page. Some companies also make full size banners from the artwork and hang it at their GWP Day parties!
This event succeeds in large part to the efforts off the volunteers of the GWP Hospitality Force, which greets attendees and helps manage the traffic and food. Mary Beth is actively recruiting social butterflies, friendly faces and a few tech-savvy members to join her in Orlando and help her connect the activities at Graph Expo out to our members around the nation and the world! Watch for the sign-up site to volunteer online this year. Also… be sure and get your FREE PASS, courtesy Print Media Centr and the Printerverse – and share it with all the GIRLS WHO PRINT!
